TEAM

Three main factors contribute to stylist titles—the three Es: expertise, experience, and education.

Junior stylists are freshly out of assistant programs and are new to working on the floor, which is why their prices are discounted. The next level is Associate, followed by Senior, followed by Master. All of our stylists maintain their education via internal and external classes as well as via special-guest educators.

Named by Brooklyn Magazine and New York Magazine as one of New York’s top stylists, I’m still blown away that I get to do this incredible work in my own studio. After spending basically my entire life styling and cutting people’s hair in the midwest, I became officially trained at Carsten Aveda Institute shortly after I moved to New York in 2008, where I learned the fine art of French haircutting and color chemistry. In 2011, I decided to step out on my own and opened a small studio in Brooklyn. I knew that I genuinely loved the art of hairdressing, but I quickly grew to understand and appreciate the emotional connection we all have with our hair, and it’s a truth I carry with me during every appointment. Opening The Bird House has been a wonderful and thrilling adventure, and it is such an honor to have you as clients and friends.

BROOKE

MASTER STYLIST
CO-FOUNDER

Growing up, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I used to think through various businesses I could open, dreaming of being in charge. Maybe it’s the Capricorn in me, but I’ve always been bossy… So when my sister, Brooke, opened a one-chair hair studio in what was basically a closet in Carroll Gardens, I was ready to put those aspirations into practice. Together, we moved her from that little studio to our current location, and it’s been an absolute dream come true. Building this business hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so beautiful, and we’re very proud of the space & team we’ve built. It is my greatest hope that at The Bird House, you experience more than just a great haircut and color, but that you feel you’ve found your hair home.

FRANKIE

SENIOR STYLIST

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I have been in the hair world since I was very young. I first started working with wigs, shaping them for clients and in doing so I developed an almost clinical understanding of head shape and hair architecture. After furthering my education at ARROJO Cosmetology school, I now apply that knowledge to every client I work with at the salon, appreciating their individual and beautiful hair. Not only do I aim to provide gorgeous hair to each of my clients, but I also hope you enjoy your experience in my chair to the fullest, and ideally, that you leave with a smile. I especially love creative color and cuts that together bring out your best features.

GOLDY

SENIOR STYLIST

Even before graduating from the Paul Mitchell Academy in 2014, I have always had a passion for doing hair and helping people feel refreshed and beautiful. I am an introvert, which gives me a great sensitivity to what it means to feel comfortable in someone’s care, and that is my main priority for all my clients: that you feel heard and comfortable and most importantly that you know that your hair is in trustworthy hands. I specialize in all hair textures. As a naturally curly-haired girl, I understand just how important a good cut matters with natural textures. I also love cuts that are so low maintenance you can simply wash and walk out the door feeling beautiful with nothing more than an air dry. I enjoy art and painting as a hobby, so I love doing color services, too, whether it be a subtle pop or full-on blonde. And of course I love doing creative color work too. It brings me so much joy to help my clients look and feel like their best selves, and I can’t wait to see you in my chair!

I grew up getting my hands into any and all artistic outlets that I could, which eventually led me to a career in makeup artistry, where I worked for 5 years. Wanting to also learn the ins and outs of hairdressing, I enrolled at Arrojo Cosmetology School. Now, I’ve found my place at The Bird House. For the past year I have been working under Brooke’s wing as her personal apprentice, and am now thrilled to be working with my own clients! I love doing dimensional highlights and creative colors, and I love cuts that have a lived-in, textured feel. Ultimately, I love the fact that with hair, you can reinvent yourself.
