Brooke is no longer accepting new clients.
Named by Brooklyn Magazine and New York Magazine as one of New York’s top stylists, I’m still blown away that I get to do this incredible work in my own studio. After spending basically my entire life styling and cutting people’s hair in the midwest, I became officially trained at Carsten Aveda Institute shortly after I moved to New York in 2008, where I learned the fine art of French haircutting and color chemistry. In 2011, I decided to step out on my own and opened a small studio in Brooklyn. I knew that I genuinely loved the art of hairdressing, but I quickly grew to understand and appreciate the emotional connection we all have with our hair, and it’s a truth I carry with me during every appointment. Opening The Bird House has been a wonderful and thrilling adventure, and it is such an honor to have you as clients and friends. Pronouns: She/Her.

Growing up, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I used to think through various businesses I could open, dreaming of being in charge. Maybe it’s the Capricorn in me, but I’ve always been bossy… So when my sister, Brooke, opened a one-chair hair studio in what was basically a closet in Carroll Gardens, I was ready to put those aspirations into practice. Together, we moved her from that little studio to our current location, and it’s been an absolute dream come true. Building this business hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so beautiful, and we’re very proud of the space & team we’ve built. It is my greatest hope that at The Bird House, you experience more than just a great haircut and color, but that you feel you’ve found your hair home. Pronouns: She/Her.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I have been in the hair world since I was very young. I first started working with wigs, shaping them for clients and in doing so I developed an almost clinical understanding of head shape and hair architecture. After furthering my education at ARROJO Cosmetology school, I now apply that knowledge to every client I work with at the salon, appreciating their individual and beautiful hair. Not only do I aim to provide gorgeous hair to each of my clients, but I also hope you enjoy your experience in my chair to the fullest, and ideally, that you leave with a smile. I especially love creative color and cuts that together bring out your best features. Pronouns: She/Her.

SENIOR STYLIST

Hair has been a part of my life since I was a child. I often watched my hairdresser sister blow out her own curly strands, and it became natural for me to grab a round brush. But it wasn’t until I got into photography that I realized hair was in my future, because I spent more time styling the models than taking pictures. So I went to cosmetology school in Nashville, where I focused on editorial hair and education, and then transitioned to being behind the chair full time. My goal is to create a look that appeals to who you are both visually and emotionally. I focus on natural color & soft dimension—from the lightest hair to the darkest. I love creating looks from bouncy curly cuts to shaggy razor cuts to precision-based bobs. Looks that grow out with grace. My ultimate goal is to get to know you while giving you your dream hair service. Pronouns: She/Her.

In high school, I was always coloring my friends hair at home, so when I turned 16, enrolling in cosmetology school was all but inevitable. I’m always eager to learn more, so after beauty school, I took advanced classes with Redken and Bumble & Bumble in NYC, and Vidal Sassoon in Toronto and London. Eventually, I moved to NYC and took positions with Arrojo, Ion Studio, and Aveda as a hairstylist and educator. In these roles, I had the pleasure of not only working at top salons but also doing NYFW, photo shoots, and traveling the country to share the latest trends and techniques. These experiences were invaluable to me, but made me realize what I love most is simply connecting with people and working in a salon doing hair! From edgy pixie cuts, to whimsical beachy hair, to a classic sharp bob, I’m extremely versatile in my skill set and just want to bring out the best version of you. Pronouns: She/Her.

The relationships that I build with my clients is my favorite thing about hairdressing and I’m so happy to be focusing my energy on it. I love cutting curls, creating dimension and brightness in natural hair color, formulating natural reds and cutting hair in a way that grows in effortlessly. ASSOCIATE STYLIST

Growing up with thick, curly hair, all I ever knew was how to tame it and wasn’t taught to embrace my hair or to just let it be. My mom would let me get it blown out and straightened professionally once a year and let me tell you it was truly the most incredible feeling! A feeling that inspired me to learn how to style hair so I could someday help others feel as amazing as that little girl. After getting my BA in Theater, I furthered my education by attending Arrojo Cosmetology. This is just the beginning for me, but my ultimate goal as a future hairdresser is to make my clients feel as radiant as that tiny kid who got to feel like a queen for a day—regardless of their hair texture or type. As I continue on my hair journey as Brooke’s apprentice, I’m so excited to be learning and growing everyday with her and the amazing Bird House team. Pronouns: She/Her.

In 2014, I graduated from the Brown Aveda Institute and practiced my craft in Cleveland for four years before making the big move to Brooklyn. I have found my niche creating natural-looking color with blonding and balayage techniques. My attention to detail helps me shape modern haircuts that fit your personality. Even before graduating from the Paul Mitchell Academy in 2014, I have always had a passion for doing hair and helping people feel refreshed and beautiful. I am an introvert, which gives me a great sensitivity to what it means to feel comfortable in someone’s care, and that is my main priority for all my clients: that you feel heard and comfortable and most importantly that you know that your hair is in trustworthy hands. I specialize in all hair textures. As a naturally curly-haired girl, I understand just how important a good cut matters with natural textures. I also love cuts that are so low maintenance you can simply wash and walk out the door feeling beautiful with nothing more than an air dry. I enjoy art and painting as a hobby, so I love doing color services, too, whether it be a subtle pop or full-on blonde. And of course I love doing creative color work too. It brings me so much joy to help my clients look and feel like their best selves, and I can’t wait to see you in my chair! Pronouns: She/Her.
